Chief Executive Officer
Blake joined HealthSouth Deaconess Rehabilitation Hospital as the director of human resources in December 2009 and became the director of marketing operations in July 2011. Prior to his roles at HealthSouth Deaconess, Blake was the chief operating officer for a multi-state medical staffing corporation. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Western Kentucky University. Blake serves as the president of the Spencer County Council on Aging and lives with his wife of 25 years, Denise, and has three adult children.
Mohammed Adeel, M.D.
Executive Medical Director
Dr. Adeel is a fellowship trained and board-certified rehabilitation physician who was named associate medical director in March 2016. He brings with him 10 years of experience in his field. Most recently, he practiced at Staten Island University Hospital in New York where he was a clinical instructor in the rehabilitation medicine residency program. Dr. Adeel graduated from Kakatiya Medical College in Warrangal, AP, India in 1992.

Business Development Director
Mike has been with HealthSouth since July of 2011. Before his promotion to director of marketing operations, Mike held the position of rehabilitation liaison and more recently, senior rehabilitation liaison. Prior to his career at HealthSouth Deaconess, Mike worked at Deaconess Hospital as a respiratory therapist and lead respiratory therapist. He is a graduate of East Central College in Rolla, Missouri.
Emilian Armeanu, M.D.
Infection Control Physician Advisor
Dr. Armeanu graduated from Carol Davila University School of Medicine in 1992. He moved to the United States in 1999 and relocated to Evansville in 2007. He has been the Infection Control Physician Advisor for HealthSouth Deaconess Rehabilitation Hospital since 2008 and currently serves as the president of our medical staff. Dr. Armeanu is board certified in Infectious Diseases, Internal Medicine, and Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine.

Vijay Bhasin, M.D.
Program Director of Internal Medicine
Dr. Bhasin is the program director of internal medicine. He graduated from the Government College Punjabi University Patiala in 1990. He performed clinical research at General Hospital in San Francisco, California. Dr. Bhasin moved to the United States in 1995 and relocated to Evansville in 2003 where he currently has a private practice. He was certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2004 with a nephrology subspecialty.

Eric Brackett, M.D.
Dr. Brackett has been an admitting physician at HealthSouth Deaconess Rehabilitation Hospital since 2002. He brings 18 years of experience and received his doctorate of medicine in 1996 from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine. Dr. Brackett’s primary practice is Family Medicine Associates in Evansville, IN. He is an active member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Vanderburgh County Medical Society.

Ashok Dhingra, M.D.
Dr. Dhingra is the executive medical director and director of the brain injury program. He has been a member of the HealthSouth team since 1997. He is an experienced physiatrist and specializes in the medical and rehabilitative management of brain injury and spinal cord injury. Dr. Dhingra earned his medical degree from the University of Delhi in New Delhi, India, and completed his residency at the University of Missouri.

Trish Draeger, RN, CRRN
Chief Nursing Officer
Trish has been employed at HealthSouth since 2001. She has 30 years of acute care nursing experience. She graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with an associate degree in nursing and from the University of Southern Indiana with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Trish is a member of the Indiana Organization of Nurse Executives and is a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN®).
Cathy Elpers, RN, CCM, DCM
Director of Case Management
Cathy was promoted to director of case management in 2014. She has been with HealthSouth since 2012 as a case manager. She graduated from the Deaconess School of Nursing and has her certification in case management. Cathy has an extensive background with commercial insurance pre-certification.
Gregory Ennis, M.D.
Dr. Ennis is the program director for the outpatient amputee clinic. He brings more than 10 years of experience as a physiatrist to the HealthSouth physician team. Prior to joining HealthSouth, Dr. Ennis held medical directorships at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Bartlett Memorial Hospital in Juneau, Alaska, and Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia. He earned his medical degree from the University of Seville Faculty of Medicine in Spain and completed an internship in internal medicine at Brooklyn/Caledonian Hospital. He also completed a residency at Ball Memorial Hospital in internal medicine and in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Gregory Ennis, M.D. is an independent private practice physician whose office is located at the hospital.
Human Resources Director
Wendy joined HealthSouth Deaconess as the Director of Human Resources in May 2017. Previously, she worked for several years in behavioral healthcare in a variety of roles including patient care, human resources and quality. Wendy earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Southern Indiana and a master’s degree in business administration from Ball State. She serves on the board of directors for the Evansville Human Resources Association and the Warrick Humane Society.
Brett Hirt, PT, ATC
Director of Therapy Operations
Brett has been employed with HealthSouth since 1996 and currently serves as a regional director of therapy and is a member of HealthSouth’s National Therapy Leadership Board. He participates on the Community PT Advisory Committee for the University of Evansville and is an active member of Crossroads Christian Church where he has been involved with mission work. A native of Nashville, Tennessee, Brett graduated from the University of Evansville with a bachelor's degree in science and a master's degree in physical therapy.
Rhonda Ramsey joined the HealthSouth Deaconess team in December of 2015. Her career immediately prior to her hire at HealthSouth was with St. Mary’s Health as the manager of financial reporting. Rhonda obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from The University of Southern Indiana. She resides in Spencer County Indiana and is an active member of the Rockport Church of the Nazarene.
Anita Shaw, LCSW, CPHRM, CCM, CBIS
Director of Quality/Risk
Anita joined HealthSouth Deaconess in 2017 as the director of quality and risk. She brings more than 15 years of healthcare administration experience including having previously served as the director of case management at the hospital. She is a licensed clinical social worker and case manager certified in healthcare risk management. She serves the community by volunteering on the Human Rights Committee for Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center and Ireland Behavioral Health Services.
Director of Plant Operations
Steve has been employed by HealthSouth since March 2008 as the director of plant operations. He has 20 years of experience in general industry and over 15 years managing healthcare facilities. Steve is an active member of the Southern Indiana District 10 Hospital Emergency Planning Committee and has been published in Security Management Magazine. He is a graduate of Western Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and industrial technology.
Marco Zolezzi, M.D.
Dr. Zolezzi joined HealthSouth Deaconess in 2016 having previously served as the medical director at Baptist Health Inpatient Rehabilitation in Madisonville, Kentucky. Dr. Zolezzi graduated from The Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara Medical School and completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Louisiana State University Medical Center. He is a member of the American Board of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
